Abstract: Research data management (RDM) is best learnt with real data. In this workshop we would like to get an overview of which datasets are already used in teaching, which learning content is taught with these datasets, and which aspects of RDM are already taken into account. Our aim is to promote training materials and datasets from the consortium that can be used to practise generic and subject-specific RDM. Training funds can be applied for this year for the (further) development of training datasets and teaching materials. In our workshop, we are looking for and promoting training materials and data sets from the consortium that can be used to practise RDM. Which data is in use? What FDM learning content is still missing?

Target group: Teachers, projects/persons with data sets that are to be processed

Output/Product: Overview of existing data sets, overview of learning objectives to be achieved with the help of training data sets

Abstract: The aim of the workshop is to align the different steps of the lifecycle of an RDC-compliant service in NFDI4Biodiversity more closely and to optimize the necessary requirements across the TAs.

Target group: The workshop is primarily aimed at service developers, but also at DevOps specialists and those responsible for service portfolios.

Output/Product: The result of the workshop will be better cooperation between the task areas based on a common understanding of the respective results and the planned work.

Abstract: In our workshop, in addition to networking at national level, we will look at international cooperation and setting priorities for standards and services. We will take stock and discuss tasks and developments for the next project phase.

Abstract: Are you also in the woods with the standardization of your data? Then come to the workshop and discuss your cases and problems with standardization with us and be inspired by our way of standardization in livestock. The focus of our workshop will be a lively exchange with the participants on the topic of standardization. First, we will look at the FAIR principles as the basis for OpenData and the motivation for standardizing data and metadata.  We will then look at the community standard ABCD (Access to Biological Collections Data) and its implementation with BioCASe as a way of exchanging data from the livestock sector. This will be demonstrated using examples, with problems and possible solutions being identified and discussed. Furthermore, a tool for metadata annotation, which is currently being developed at the FBN to simplify the process, will be demonstrated.

Target group: Data owners and curators who are interested in standardization and comprehensive descriptions of their data (FAIRifycation of data).

Output/Product: Compilation of user views on standardization in the biodiversity community and exchange on problems and solutions in their implementation.

About the workshop "Our services: From gaps to solutions – A workshop to integrate needs into the further development of the service catalog"
The aim of this workshop is the needs-oriented further development of the biodiversity and environmental data management catalog. Through an interactive needs analysis, (individual) user requirements are to be identified and incorporated into the optimization of services. 

Target group
The workshop is aimed at members of the consortium who are interested in the needs-oriented further development of our service catalog.

Output/Product
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the service requirements in biodiversity and environmental data management. The workshop will generate concrete insights and ideas for designing and optimizing our service catalog to meet individual requirements. The workshop will take place at the same time and in cooperation with the Tools Marketplace (see above).

Abstract: At the last AHC, it was decided that the metadata standard bioschemas.org will play a central role in the consortium with regard to data discovery in the future. In this workshop, we will show how the standard is already being used by individual partners and how data is currently and will be connected in the future. Participation in this workshop will give you a preview of the planned 2-day, in-depth workshop on the topic in early summer, which will be open to all interested parties.

Target group: Representatives of the partner institutions that provide (or will provide) data to the search index or core storage and which should be found and used there

Abstract: After a brief insight into the current RDC architecture, services from different levels (Aruna Object Storgage, terminology service, VAT, search) will be presented and the interaction between the services demonstrated. The aim of the workshop is to give users an overview of the current state of development of the RDC and an insight into future developments.  Applications and services of the RDC components will be demonstrated using concrete scenarios. In particular, users can familiarize themselves with these services and so-called pilots, which link several services together, in a hands-on session. The feedback from users will be compiled and incorporated into an analysis of the current situation in order to improve existing pilots and services or design new ones.

Target group: Potential users and interested parties of the RDC

Output/Product: At the end, a roadmap for future developments and pilots in the RDC will be created.
